DESCRIPTION:The Indiana Tree Climbing Championship provides a competitive but educational opportunity for working arborists to demonstrate and exchange new climbing techniques\, increase the interaction between various firms and members in the industry\, and provide positive public exposure for the profession. Professional tree climbing competitions that simulate working conditions of arborists in the field are held around the world to expand the platform for arborists to learn about the latest in climbing techniques and innovations in equipment. Showcasing the highest level of professional skills and safety\, this learning environment also introduces the public to the skills professional tree climbing arborists must use for safe\, professional tree work. \n\n\n\nThe contestants must compete in five preliminary events\, Work Climb\, Aerial Rescue\, Throwline\, Ascent Event\, and Speed Climb. The contestants who accumulate the highest combined points total in the preliminary events earn the right to move on to the championship round\, the Masters’ Challenge and awarded prizes from ArborMaster. The Annual Meeting kicks off on Sunday with a Welcome Reception with exhibitors and silent auction to fund MAC-ISA student scholarships.  \n\n\n\nThe TREE Fund Golf Tournament and Motorcycle/Sports Car Ride for Research are also held on Sunday. The Annual Meeting continues on Monday with opening remarks\, plenary session and includes a field day\, educational sessions with many consecutive offerings. You will bond with other tree people and you will leave with new social and sylvan communities. \n\n\n\nThis workshop includes food\, lodging\, instruction\, use of gear\, networking and 19.75 ISA (professional arborist) CEU’s.   \n\n\n\nDates: November 20-22\, 2026 \n\n\n\nLocation: Camp Chestnut Ridge\, Efland\, NC 27243Audience: For WomenExperience Level:  For Beginners (those who have never climbed before) to Experienced \n\n\n\nCheck in:Check in is at Noon on Friday. Feel free to arrive earlier; enjoy some time walking\, exploring\, or reading under a tree. Allow yourself to come unplug for a bit – walk around the pond\, go for a forest walk\, or relax and read by the pond. \n\n\n\nTravel:Efland is accessible  to travel to by car\, train\, or air. Please research car share programs (Taxi\, Uber\, Lyft\, etc.). or if you wish to coordinate rides with other participants\, we will be sending out an email to assist with coordination with others. \n\n\n\nLodging:Included in this event.  Lodging is in a camp bunkhouse with 4 beds to a room. Bring all of your own linens/towels.  A full bath is in each room. \n\n\n\nFood:All meals are included in your registration costs! Friday: dinner\, Saturday: breakfast\, lunch and dinner\, Sunday: breakfast and lunch.  If you need special snacks\, please bring them.  Delicious meals are crafted from ingredients from local farms. \n\n\n\nTree Climbing Gear:If you have your own tree climbing gear and wish to use it at the event\, please bring it with your gear inspection documentation. Your gear shall be inspected and signed off by a WTCW team member before using. \n\n\n\nTopics:This workshop will cover all aspects of tree climbing. The course will be adapted to all participant’s experience and competence levels. If you’ve never been in a tree\, or you’ve been climbing for 10 years come learn and play with the best. \n\n\n\nClothing:The weather can change quickly; please come prepared for all weather! Please pack long pants\, long sleeves\, hiking (over the ankle) boots\, rain and warm jackets\, warm hat and gloves\, and don’t forget sunscreen and bug spray. Please come prepared; this entire course will be held shine or rain.   \n\n\n\nYoga:Your yoga mat and blocks want to join in on the fun! If you don’t have them\, WTCW has some to share (first come\, first serve). \n\n\n\nFootprint Reduction:Please bring your own cutlery\, cloth napkin\, water bottle\, travel mug\, and snack container. A large water cooler will be available in the field. Bringing your own plate and silverware helps reduce the environmental footprint of our group events. \n\n\n\nCourse Check Out:The workshop ends at 5:30pm on Sunday.
